History

History

Starved Rock State Park is named after a prominent rock butte associated with a Native American legend tied to the Illinois Confederation. The park was developed in the early twentieth century, with significant contributions from the Civilian Conservation Corps, whose work helped establish trails, lodges, and infrastructure still in use today.
